Collette Liebl-Cote

Collette recently announced that its 2026 travel season will comprise over 170 tours globally, including 20 new itineraries. The tour company also debuted a new tagline: “By Travellers. For Travellers.” LATTE has since caught up with Jaclyn Leibl-Cote, President and CEO of Collette – only the fourth leader in the company’s 108-year-history – to learn more about the brand’s evolution.

Most notable was a renewed focus around the tagline. This, said Leibl-Cote, “leans into our philosophy for how we design our itineraries all over the globe. A lot of guided tour companies use DMCs and third parties; we actually have a team of people that live all over the world that are employed by Collette, who are designing itineraries, living in destination.”

These in-destination travel designers are the key to the company’s success, according to Leibl-Cote. They spend their time discovering hidden gems and local businesses that become integral to each itinerary offered by Collette.

Italy (Rome seen here) is always a top destination for Collette

“You have to kind of go where the masses are a little bit because people buy because they think they want the Colosseum,” explained Leibl-Cote, “but it’s those hidden gems and those things along the way that we pepper in that [travelers] wouldn’t have access to if they were to do it on their own” that make the difference. She added, “It’s really about going deep in destination.”

A Focus on Small Groups

To that end, Collette’s small-group tours – which have an average of 19 guests and a maximum of 24 – are “for sure” the company’s fastest-growing segment.

With a smaller group, you have more flexibility – in where you travel to, how you travel, where you stay, and just about every other component of the trip. They offer, said Leibl-Cote, “something a little bit more unique.” As she put it: “When you have bigger groups, you’re forced, many times, into ‘OK we’re going to stay in Paris, but we are limited to the hotels [we can stay in],’ so you have to go to the bigger ones. With the small group, you really can select everything within the itinerary much differently—as you should.”

She added, “There’s just a lot of value that the smaller group brings.”

A new itinerary for Collette takes guests to Osaka, Japan

As far as the top draws for Collete, Leibl-Cote said the “three I’s” – Italy, Ireland and Iceland – are always top of mind. Japan, too, has “just been booming” – so much so that Collette added another small-group exploration there for 2026. This “Journey Through the Heart of Japan” tour includes the top sites in Tokyo and Osaka but also includes a private experience with retired sumo wrestlers, taiko drum lessons and others.

South Africa and Victoria Falls, Scandinavia and the Northern Lights, and Morocco are popular, too.

Sustainability and Impact Moments

On the sustainability front, Leibl-Cote said Collette does a lot to try and spread guests out – both geographically and throughout the year – to help prevent overtourism. She adds that a big part of this effort is educating travellers, letting them know they can visit marquee destinations in the shoulder or offseason and still have great weather and fewer other travellers – making for an even better experience.

“We have Impact Moments on every explorations tour that we do,” she added, which could include meeting a local farmer and learning from them or supporting local businesses. “It’s really important to us to weave those in. We actually, on our Corporate Citizenship team, have individuals that work directly with our tour designers to understand the tour flow, what pace looks like, so they can do research as to who are some of the partners in-destination that we can potentially incorporate into the tour so we can support local initiatives, as well.”

Said Leibl-Cote, “That’s the beauty of having them [tour designers] in destination.”

Lapland Northern Lights
The Northern Lights are a major draw for travelers

As for what’s driving business, she told LATTE.: “Wellness, for sure. Food and wine, definitely … multi-gen is another one that we’ve seen,” especially as it relates to milestone/celebration travel. Additionally, “luxury has been something travellers are really leaning into,” Leibl-Cote said.

Given that luxury is trending and small-group tours being Collette’s most popular offering now, is it possible the company leans into even-smaller group tours? The short answer, Leibl-Cote said, is “yes.” But she added, “are we making any abrupt changes right now to making it even smaller? No.”

She explained that her team is always discussing what the business should look like five years, 10 years from now, “trying to predict what the sweet spot is” – a major responsibility as a third-generation family member to lead Collette – but while such a change isn’t on the immediate horizon, Leibl-Cote added, “it’s always on the table for us.”

APT Travel Group has notched up its largest ever sales month in the company’s history, as it achieved three of the company’s top four highest sales days on record.

The achievement highlights 2025 as a defining year for the company, marking its resurgence post-pandemic as well as strategic investments in new ships across Europe, Vietnam, and now Egypt, as well as lodge upgrades in the Kimberley and accelerated global partnerships.

“This record-breaking period reflects the strength, innovation, and expertise of the APT Travel Group and the years of hard work the team has put in, and the strong relationships we have with our trade partners,” said David Cox, CEO of APT Travel Group.

Key destinations are driving this record performance, with classic European journeys still a cornerstone of APT Travel Group’s success. New ships in Europe and popular early spring departures, including the Captains Choice Turkey journey to commemorate Anzac Day, and river cruises across France, Germany, and the Netherlands, have further fuelled demand.

APT record sales

Small group tours have also seen strong growth, the company revealed. The launch of Travelmarvel small group tours, adding to APT’s existing offerings, is attracting significant interest as are the brand’s recently launched Egypt itineraries which feature luxury Nile cruises.

Niche brands within APT Travel Group are also experiencing strong demand. Interest in Antarctica Flights is surging, with fewer than 40 seats remaining across two New Year’s Eve flights. Botanica’s spring Japan charter cruises continue to attract travellers, offering cultural immersion alongside luxury travel experiences. Captains Choice early spring European departures, particularly the Turkey journey, are performing strongly as well.

“It is very pleasing to see the areas where the business has made significant investments, new ships in Europe, Vietnam and now Egypt plus significant investment in upgrading our Kimberley lodges and our new partnerships with Seabourn and Heritage Expeditions fuelling our growth,” Cox added.

APT record sales

In addition to its record-breaking business achievements, APT continues to make a meaningful social impact through its funding of initiatives such as the establishment of the new Blue Dragon Centre in Ho Chi Minh City. Operated by the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, the centre offers a secure environment for children, providing literacy and numeracy classes, English lessons, creative workshops, life skills training, and counselling, hosting up to 50 children at a time, with 150 attending throughout the week. Through its OneTomorrow Charitable Fund, APT Travel Group has contributed more than $450,000 to the foundation since 2019, including over $220,000 this year alone.

“Supporting Blue Dragon in establishing this centre is more than a financial commitment – it’s a reflection of our shared values: dignity, opportunity, and hope,” said Lorna Heyward, COO of APT Travel Group.

Seven new walking itineraries encompassing Bhutan and Nepal have been introduced by Walk into Luxury, as the experiential travel company broadens its global footprint. These new private guided hikes of seven- to 17-days durations in the Himalayas arrive in response to growing demand for nature-based, immersive travel, and complement Walk into Luxury’s options in Australia, New Zealand, Patagonia, Japan and Norway.

Coupled with world-class lodging and dining at properties including andBeyond Punakha River Lodge, Amankora Paro and Six Senses Thimphu in Bhutan, and Shinta Mani Mustang in Nepal, the new walks are available for any date year-round, with no minimum numbers.

Tiger’s Nest, Bhutan

“Bhutan is full of contrasts. It’s a hidden gem, seemingly untouched by the modern world, yet it is home to some of the world’s best hotels dotted among its remote valleys,” said Nikki King, CEO of Walk into Luxury. “It is the ultimate luxury walking destination.”

Bhutan is filled with forested trails, hilltop monasteries and rural villages. Hikers have the option to experience the famed Tigers Nest hike and Trans Bhutan Trail, and a walk near Lawala Mountain Pass that concludes with a private lunch setup in the forest overlooking Gangtey Valley.

DochulaPass, Chortens in Bhutan

In Nepal, the Annapurna foothills and Mustang Valley – home to the dramatic Kali Gandaki Gorge – await, offering moderate walking based at unique luxury mountain lodge, Shinta Mani. Walkers keen to experience Everest have the option to add a heli-breakfast with a view ofthe world’s highest peak.

The new Himalayas program comes after the recent investment from Lou and Rob Tandy, to broaden Walk into Luxury’s reach into new destinations. Still to come are hikes through Italy’s Dolomites, Sri Lanka, Peru and the Galapagos.

Jharkot village, Mustang Valley, Nepal

“Our aim is to showcase the world’s best walks and wilderness areas to clients, which is reflected in our destination pipeline,” King said.

“Modern luxury travelles seek out time in nature when they travel, and active options like hiking are growing in popularity. Walk into Luxury’s journeys offer this in spades, alongside some luxury comforts.”

The new program includes three Bhutan journeys, two in Nepal, and two that combine both destinations;

Walk into Luxury says the best travel windows are between March and June, and between September and December.

Captain’s Choice’s newest voyage for 2026 will take travellers to three of the most sought-after destinations: the Galápagos islands, Easter Island and Antarctica. The journey will be hosted aboard a Silversea vessel and will offer guests the chance to encounter endemic wildlife and breathtaking landscapes.

In addition, Captain’s Choice has also confirmed two other expedition cruise itineraries for 2026, which are now open for booking. April will see Captain’s Choice guests board Silversea’s Silver Wind to trace the Atlantic coast of West Africa, from Namibia to Ghana. Then, in November, the Paspaley Pearl will venture on a remote expedition cruise to the shores of Papua New Guinea, West Papua and the archipelago of Raja Ampat, Indonesia.

Epic Discovery of the Galápagos, Easter Island & Antarctica

The latest itinerary will bring together a group of 26 guests to explore the three destinations by expedition cruise and land excursions.

Group of Moai statue of Ahu Tongariki, Easter Island

The journey begins in Quito, Ecuador, where guests will soak up the history and culture of this vibrant city, before travelling to the remote islands of the Galápagos and embarking Silversea’s Silver Origin. Guests will explore the archipelago over seven nights before venturing further onward to Easter Island.

Here, they will spend two days taking in series of statues across the island, named moai by the indigenous Rapa Nui, while enjoying a stay at Explora Rapa Nui.

After a couple of days exploring Chile’s historic cities of Santiago and Valparaíso, guests fly South to explore Antarctica, bypassing the Drake’s Passage. The group will spend six nights aboard the Silver Endeavour. Meanwhile smaller Zodiac cruises and on-shore hikes each day allow opportunities to encounter the landscapes and Antarctic wildlife.

The 25-day Epic Discovery of the Galápagos, Easter Island & Antarctica journey will take place from 15 October to 8 November 2026.

Coastlines & Desert Wonders of West Africa

Dune 45 in Namibia

This 22-day expedition voyage invites 24 guests aboard Silver Wind to journey from Windhoek to Accra. The journey juxtaposes the towering dunes of Namibia’s Namib Desert—visiting iconic landscapes such as Big Daddy, Dune 45 and the fossil-scattered clay plains of Deadvlei—with coastal exploration across the Gulf of Guinea.

Along the way, guests will encounter chimpanzees at the Jane Goodall Institute’s Tchimpounga rehabilitation centre, stroll palm-lined beaches in Gabon and São Tomé and Príncipe, explore Benin’s emerging industries and gain rare insight into voodoo traditions in Togo.

The Coastlines & Desert Wonders of West Africa journey will take place from the 2nd to the 23rd of April 2026.

Papua New Guinea & Indonesia by Luxury Yacht

Raja Ampat Archipelago, West Papua

This expedition sets sail from the coastal town of Madang in Papua New Guinea aboard the privately chartered Paspaley Pearl, accommodating only 26 guests. Led by a dedicated Expedition Team, the voyage offers immersive experiences from the villages at the mouth of the Sepik River to the rainforest-fringed coasts of Indonesia.

Guests can swim with whale sharks in Cenderawasih Bay, snorkel reefs around West Papua and the Banda Islands and spend three days exploring the marine biodiversity of Raja Ampat’s 1,500-plus islands.

The 16-day Papua New Guinea & Indonesia by Luxury Yacht journey will take place from 27 November to 12 December 2026.

G Adventures and National Geographic Expeditions are entering the high-end market under a new venture called National Geographic Signature with G Adventures. Exploration is at the heart of the new “5 Star Experience” program, which will target travellers with a thirst for knowledge and who want to make a difference.

“These aren’t just luxury trips — they’re an invitation to experience the world with purpose,” G Adventures’ teases on its website.

Capped at 22 travellers and launching in January 2027, the new tours are centred on education, community, culture and access. The collection represents a “bold new travel style” that “will forge its own path in the [luxury] market,” the long-standing travel partners said.

The trips will feature hand-picked “elevated accommodation and service”, a dedicated expedition leader, educational talks with leading experts and ‘Signature Moments’ that embody the local culture and support connection with local communities, history and cuisine.

The National Geographic Signature with G Adventures series will go on sale in January 2026. The inaugural program will comprise 29 trips to destinations including South Africa, Vietnam, Japan, Central Asia, Peru and Jordan.

What makes the ‘Signature’ trips different?

National Geographic Signature with G Adventures will lean on National Geographic’s expertise in education and G Adventures’ leadership in the community tourism space, while offering unrivalled access to world-leading experts.

“Travellers seeking more than traditional ‘luxury’ will now have the opportunity to experience destinations through a National Geographic lens and unique immersive approach to exploration, with a greater focus on socially-conscious experiences that benefit local communities. The expanded collaboration also opens up this new way of exploring to discerning travellers worldwide,” the duo said in a statement.

Inspired by Nat Geo’s legacy of education, science, exploration and storytelling, the Signature trips will offer exclusive behind-the-scenes access to museums, historic sites or dining in extraordinary settings, and “transformative cultural immersion”.

G Adventures and National Geographic Expeditions have partnered for more than 10 years. They say the new Signature trips;

“Emphasise purpose, strengthening communities and giving back, representing a shift beyond a traditional luxury travel experience, supported by G Adventures’ 35 years of expertise as a pioneer of community tourism.”

“While many high-end travel experiences focus solely on comfort and exclusivity, these adventures are specifically designed to create meaningful, lasting benefits for local communities, from supporting local artisans and experts to selecting high-end locally-owned accommodations wherever possible.”

“This approach appeals to today’s discerning and socially conscious affluent consumers who increasingly seek experiences that align with their values while maintaining the exceptional quality and service they expect.”

Bruce Poon Tip, Founder of G Adventures, says the National Geographic Expeditions with G Adventures is “so much more than just high-end accommodations”.

“Over the past decade we have worked side-by-side with National Geographic to develop new ways to allow travellers to see the world. United by our shared vision that travel can be transformative, we knew there was a huge opportunity to develop a more conscious and meaningful way to travel within the luxury sector.”

Poon Tip continued, saying: “National Geographic Signature with G Adventures is about so much more than just high-end accommodations – the trips offer transformational adventures and present travellers with the opportunity to see and experience a destination in a way most travellers can’t, while creating lasting benefit for both the traveller and the communities they visit. With a legacy dating over 135 years, National Geographic is one of the most respected brands in the world and it’s an honour to work together to change how people view luxury travel, thereby generating greater impact for everyone.”

“The launch of National Geographic Signature with G Adventures poses a huge opportunity for our community of travel agents, as we bring this incredible offering to our global markets.

“These new trips will allow agents to offer their most discerning clients an experience that satisfies both their intellectual curiosity and desire to contribute positively to the world,” Poon Tip said.

Nancy Schumacher, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions says exploration is the impetus behind the Nat Geo Expeditions brand.

“We are thrilled to elevate our collaboration with G Adventures, expanding a partnership rooted in a shared vision for transformative, educational travel.

“We are reshaping travel by providing experiences that encourage connection, curiosity, and positive impact. The new phase enables travellers to engage with destinations in more immersive and meaningful ways,” Schumacher adds.

With an initial certification score of 92.2, the travel company now joins a global network of purpose-driven businesses dedicated to high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

“From the inception of Chimu Adventures, we have always made a serious effort toward being a responsible company, not only in terms of the environment but also towards our office staff, the people we meet on our travels, our travellers and guides on the ground,” Chimu Managing Director and Co-Founder Chad Carey said.

The B Corp certification process, known for its rigorous standards, pushed the company to evaluate and improve numerous aspects of its business. “Becoming a B Corp means that these efforts have met rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency,” Carey said.

“This means a lot, not only to our employees but also to our entire social and environmental ecosystem. We are very proud to wear the B Corp badge as it truly reflects the Chimu culture not only from where it has been but where it is going as we strive to improve.”

Chimu’s journey through certification was not just about meeting criteria, but also about transformation. “The certification for us was more than a quest for a stamp; it was an audit process that naturally created new efficiencies and strategies, which has ultimately improved the business not only in the moment but will act as a roadmap for our future,” said Genevieve Flanagan, Chimu’s Sustainability and B Corp Lead.

The company implemented meaningful changes based on employee feedback, including enhanced volunteering and fundraising efforts, revised operational policies, along with increased transparency and communication. “We created more transparencies across the business for our employees, improved communication strategies, and bolstered parental leave opportunities, as some examples,” Flanagan explained.

While certification is a major accomplishment, Chimu sees it as a starting point. “Though rigorous, it was an exercise we recommend all businesses consider undertaking,” added Flanagan. “The guided process really offers a hands-on look at every angle of the business and helps to build a more equitable future for all companies.”

Earth at night from space

Private guided travel company Kensington has just launched Kensington Expeditions, a new collection of customized travel experiences “that blend luxury with immersive adventure across land, sea, air and space.”

Among the highlights of the travel experiences, Kensington will offer clients the opportunity to experience ‘the final frontier’ through curated visits to actual space stations. These outposts—part of the world’s first commercial space station currently in development—are designed to lay the foundation for long-term living beyond Earth. These experiences have an anticipated launch of May 2026.

Kensington Expeditions will complement these tailor-made itineraries with leading scientists, marine biologists, explorers and cultural experts guiding the way.

Each expedition incorporates hands-on conservation and scientific engagement alongside exclusive cultural experiences, offering access to activities and locations not available to the general public. Through partnerships with researchers and local organizations, guests participate in field-based initiatives such as marine biodiversity monitoring, community-driven conservation projects and guided ecological studies. An expedition project manager will coordinate the trip, while scientists, naturalists and cultural experts lead workshops, private sessions and immersive tours.

Beyond the space-based experience, other Kensington Expedition sample itineraries include:

  • A 12-day private superyacht expedition from Patagonia to Antarctica, with opportunities for kayaking, submersible dives and visits to working research stations.
  • A journey through British Columbia’s Great Bear Rainforest, combining a luxury yacht experience with a stay at Nimmo Bay Wilderness Lodge.
  • A 14-day itinerary through Northern and Southern Oman for cultural exploration, outdoor activities and stays in a range of settings, from city hotels and mountain lodges to private desert camps and a restored dhow.
  • A 10-day expedition through Costa Rica, inclusive of a week aboard a private expedition yacht and three nights at Hacienda Montezuma, moving between marine, rainforest and volcanic landscapes.
  • A 34-day private jet journey following the equator around the world, offering rare access to some of the planet’s most remote and biologically rich regions.

Travellers receive personalized expedition gear, such as monogrammed dive equipment and custom 3D star maps. Available travel options include private yachts and jets, off-market lodges and bespoke camps, as well exclusive access and a 24/7 concierge service.
