Seven new walking itineraries encompassing Bhutan and Nepal have been introduced by Walk into Luxury, as the experiential travel company broadens its global footprint. These new private guided hikes of seven- to 17-days durations in the Himalayas arrive in response to growing demand for nature-based, immersive travel, and complement Walk into Luxury’s options in Australia, New Zealand, Patagonia, Japan and Norway.

Coupled with world-class lodging and dining at properties including andBeyond Punakha River Lodge, Amankora Paro and Six Senses Thimphu in Bhutan, and Shinta Mani Mustang in Nepal, the new walks are available for any date year-round, with no minimum numbers.

Tiger’s Nest, Bhutan

“Bhutan is full of contrasts. It’s a hidden gem, seemingly untouched by the modern world, yet it is home to some of the world’s best hotels dotted among its remote valleys,” said Nikki King, CEO of Walk into Luxury. “It is the ultimate luxury walking destination.”

Bhutan is filled with forested trails, hilltop monasteries and rural villages. Hikers have the option to experience the famed Tigers Nest hike and Trans Bhutan Trail, and a walk near Lawala Mountain Pass that concludes with a private lunch setup in the forest overlooking Gangtey Valley.

DochulaPass, Chortens in Bhutan

In Nepal, the Annapurna foothills and Mustang Valley – home to the dramatic Kali Gandaki Gorge – await, offering moderate walking based at unique luxury mountain lodge, Shinta Mani. Walkers keen to experience Everest have the option to add a heli-breakfast with a view ofthe world’s highest peak.

The new Himalayas program comes after the recent investment from Lou and Rob Tandy, to broaden Walk into Luxury’s reach into new destinations. Still to come are hikes through Italy’s Dolomites, Sri Lanka, Peru and the Galapagos.

Jharkot village, Mustang Valley, Nepal

“Our aim is to showcase the world’s best walks and wilderness areas to clients, which is reflected in our destination pipeline,” King said.

“Modern luxury travelles seek out time in nature when they travel, and active options like hiking are growing in popularity. Walk into Luxury’s journeys offer this in spades, alongside some luxury comforts.”

The new program includes three Bhutan journeys, two in Nepal, and two that combine both destinations;

Walk into Luxury says the best travel windows are between March and June, and between September and December.

Great Walks of Australia has expanded its collection to 15 guided walks nationwide with the addition of the Uluṟu–Kata Tjuṯa Signature Walk and the Kangaroo Island Signature Walk, both operated by the Tasmanian Walking Company.

Launched in 2013 as part of Tourism Australia’s Signature Experiences of Australia program, Great Walks of Australia represents the pinnacle of premium, nature-based tourism. Every walk in the collection meets strict criteria for inclusion, offering safe, all-inclusive, multi-day hiking experiences that showcase Australia’s most spectacular landscapes, wilderness areas, and cultural heritage.

Genevieve Matthews, Executive Officer of Great Walks of Australia, said the group was elated to welcome the two new walks.

“Uluṟu–Kata Tjuṯa Signature Walk and Kangaroo Island Signature Walk offer guests an extraordinary combination of nature immersion, expert guides, comfort, culture, and storytelling, which defines what makes a Great Walk of Australia truly great.

“One experience has guests journeying through the ancient landscape of Australia’s Red Centre, and the other set along the spectacular rugged coastline of South Australia.

“Tasmanian Walking Company, who are pioneers of nature-based tourism in Australia, consistently deliver world-class experiences. These new additions to the collection extend the offering to our loyal walking community, showcasing some of the most globally recognised and breathtaking landscapes in the country,” Matthews said.

Tasmanian Walking Company now operates six Great Walks of Australia, including the acclaimed Cradle Mountain, Bay of Fires, Three Capes, and Twelve Apostles Signature Walks.

Tasmanian Walking Company’s Uluru-Kata Tjuta Signature Walk

Brett Godfrey, Co-Owner of Tasmanian Walking Company said it’s a privilege to share these iconic landscapes with walkers, and to continue the trusted partnership with Great Walks of Australia.

“Both Uluṟu–Kata Tjuṯa Signature Walk and Kangaroo Island Signature Walk represent not only world-class hiking experiences, but also a profound respect for the landscape, cultural heritage, and environment in which they take place,” Godfrey said.

“A decade in development, but 500 million years in the making, the Uluṟu–Kata Tjuṯa Signature Walk is a five-day, fully guided, premium hiking experience inside Uluṟu–Kata Tjuṯa National Park that was developed in partnership with Aṉangu Traditional Owners.”

“Guided by both indigenous partnership and a culture more than 40,000 years old, it has been a long-held dream to be granted overnight access within the World Heritage-listed National Park.”

The launch of Milford Sound Business Class – a premium collaboration between RealNZ and Altitude Tours – promises to help guests experience Piopiotahi Milford Sound like “never before.”

This “genre-defining adventure” reimagines the journey from start to finish, offering travellers a blend of luxury, storytelling and sustainability.

Milford Sound Business Class

RealNZ Chief Customer & Sales Officer Scott McNab said the experience marks “a turning point for the way the business considers and designs new offerings.”

“This is our first experience that has been truly end-to-end designed for a specific segment in the market, which will ensure every Milford Sound Business Class guest will leave with a great story to tell,” he said.

Milford Sound Business Class

Guests are collected from their accommodation in custom Mercedes X-Clusive vans featuring glass roofs, leather seating and bespoke touches including wellness shots and woollen blankets. The experience begins with a stop at the exclusive Milford Sound Business Class Lounge in Te Anau for coffee and morning tea before continuing along the scenic route to the fiord.

Upon arrival, guests board the newly remodelled MV Sinbad, which has been transformed into “an intimate floating restaurant set against the dramatic backdrop of Fiordland National Park.” Here, guests will experience a menu designed by Michelin-trained, award-winning New Zealand chef Tom Hishon.

Milford Sound Business Class

Entitled A Taste of Murihiku, Hishon’s menu highlights Southland’s finest produce and deep connection to place. “The menu was inspired by the natural elements of Southland and my connection to the land,” he said. “By design it celebrates the region’s natural beauty through the selection of key produce and the expression on the plate.”

At the heart of Milford Sound Business Class is RealNZ’s long-standing commitment to conservation. Sustainability is built into every detail – from the use of recycled materials in the MV Sinbad refit to locally sourced ingredients and the onboard Putangi Conservation Wine, which donates NZ$10 from every bottle to predator-control projects in Milford Sound’s Harrison Cove.

Cultural Attractions of Australia has added Tasmania’s West Coast Wilderness Railway as its newest member, and third in the island state.

Operating from Queenstown and Strahan, the heritage railway follows the original 1890s line once used to transport copper to the coast and is one of the few places in the world where the unique Abt rack-and-pinion system still operates. The West Coast Wilderness Railway brings to life the stories of the region’s pioneering past, its enduring communities, and the landscapes that have shaped them.

The operator has created three immersive experiences, ranging from 4.5-hour journeys through ancient rainforest to a three-day hosted adventure.

Part of Tourism Australia’s Signature Experiences of Australia program, CAOA brings together 18 of the nation’s landmark cultural attractions. From galleries and museums to historic sites and performing arts, the collective showcases the diverse stories that define Australia’s identity. Each member offers curated, behind-the-scenes experiences that add layers to travellers’ itineraries, connecting them with the people, histories, and the stories at the heart of these remarkable places.

Among the other members are the National Gallery of Australia, Sydney Opera House, Sovereign Hill, the Australian War Memorial, and in Tasmania, MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) and the Port Arthur Historic Site.

“The addition of the West Coast Wilderness Railway comes at a time when inbound visitors are increasingly seeking cultural experiences, with travel trends showing a strong preference for diverse and authentic encounters,” said Sally Cope Executive General Manager Industry, Tourism Australia.

“The Railway offers travellers an unforgettable way to experience both Australia’s heritage and natural beauty and is a powerful example of how Cultural Attractions of Australia continues to showcase the very best of our country’s cultural stories to the world.”

Ian Robertson, General Manager of WCTR, said: “The West Coast Wilderness Railway winds through a land rich with history, heart, and community. Each journey honours the knowledge of local people, the strength of regional traditions, and the living culture shaped by generations. As part of Cultural  Attractions of Australia, we invite travellers to engage with stories grounded in place, shared with pride, and carried forward by those who call this wilderness home.”

Cultural Attractions of Australia Executive Officer, Annabel Sullivan, welcomed the newest member, adding that the Railway is an especially meaningful addition for Tasmania.

“Their immersive journeys bring Tasmania’s pioneering stories and living culture to life in ways that are both authentic and deeply engaging.

“As travellers increasingly seek out experiences that connect them with place and community, the Railway offers a powerful addition to Cultural Attractions of Australia, further strengthening our Tasmanian representation alongside Mona and Port Arthur.”

Rocco Forte Hotels is offering travellers to Germany a new way to explore “the legendary castles of King Ludwig II.” Built between 1864 and 1886, the castles of Neuschwanstein, Linderhof, Schachen and Herrenchiemsee have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites for their historical significance and “fairytale charm.”

To celebrate the honour, The Charles, a Rocco Forte Hotel—located in Munich, Germany—is offering guests the opportunity to experience these castles via individually organised tours. Set amid the countryside of the Bavarian Alps or alongside serene lakes, all four castles served as personal residences and retreats for King Ludwig II (King of Bavaria from 1864 until his death in 1886) and embody what UNESCO describes as “the romantic and eclectic spirit of the era”

For the more adventurous, a three-and-a-half-hour hike from Elmau leads to the royal residence at Schachen, with the reward of views of the Wetterstein Mountains.

Herrenchiemsee Palace, situated on Herrenchiemsee, the largest island in Lake Chiemsee, is accessible only by boat and can be visited exclusively on a guided tour. Highlights of the castle include the grand staircase, the opulent state bedroom and Great Mirror Gallery, as well as the palace gardens, where fountains and water features are on display from early May through October.

Grand Prix Plaza's 75 Years of F1

Whether you are a fan of Formula One or not, the next time you’re in Las Vegas, do yourself a favor and stop by the recently opened Grand Prix Plaza. This space—the actual Las Vegas Grand Prix Pit Building—has nearly 9,300 square meters of guest-facing attractions across three ticketed attractions open year-round. Comprising the full experience is F1 X, F1 Drive and F1 Hub.

LATTE had the chance to experience all three segments this week while traveling to “Sin City” for Virtuoso Travel Week. We were intrigued by F1 Drive (go-karting) but otherwise had little to no interest in Formula One or the Las Vegas Grand Prix—as, it seemed, was the case with most of our group. Spoiler alert: by the end, the entire group wished we had more time here. But let’s dive into what you can expect.

F1 X

Upon entering the Pit Building, guests will first walk into F1 Hub, home to racing simulators, a store and F&B venues, but we would save this for later and head right to F1 X, an interactive space where you will design your own racecar, check out Formula One artifacts, and learn more about what it takes to compete—and win—a race. Starting here really builds a strong foundation for the remainder of the experience, in our opinion.

In the museum-like “75 Years of F1,” three historic cars are on display: a 1961 Ferrari, a 1979 Lotus and a 2011 Red Bull. In addition, helmets and trophies from throughout the years, modern-day racing suits, and live-size digital displays of top racers, plus more, are on display.

From here, guests will head to the Design Studio to select the colors, patterns, sponsors and more to adorn their very own F1 car. Later, this design is projected onto an all-white, full-size Formula One car, bringing your design to life.

Grand Prix Plaza Pit Stop Demo (Credit: Mike Kirschbaum)

After, it’s off to the Pit Wall Experience, Pit Stop Demo, Driver’s Briefing Room and 4D Theater. At the first stop, you will grab a seat and watch TVs with multiple camera angles of the Las Vegas Grand Prix while donning headsets that give you access to the conversations between racers and their team.

Next, groups of four can race to change a tire on an F1 car. At the 4D Theater, on two large screens you can watch a POV of the Las Vegas Strip Circuit as your seat rattles, blows wind, emit the scent of burning rubber and even sprays water on you, simulating what it’s like in the driver’s seat.

F1 Hub

This space is great for people who want to come, relax and maybe grab a drink or bite to eat during race day. It’s also home to the flagship store, so it’s most enjoyed by true enthusiasts.

The F1 Sims, however, take that 4D Theater experience to the next level. Here, roughly 20 entirely immersive racing simulators are available to test out your skills. With a seat built on four hydraulic lifts, you will rumble and tilt as if you are in the actual driver’s seat. Headphones and a curved, widescreen TV complete the experience.

Good to know: there are several “difficulty” levels that employees will arrange for you.

We also liked that once you completed your trial run, it told you how your fastest lap compared to all racers that day and all-time. Ours was not very near the top, but it got our competitive juices flowing and if it weren’t for the next—and last—experience beckoning, we would have gone for a few more laps to try and one-up ourselves.

F1 Drive

Touted as North America’s first and only official Formula One karting experience, F1 Drive was easily the highlight for everyone in our group. This F1-inspired track spans over 500 meters (some of which extending onto the actual racetrack) and 31 turns. Go karts—equipped with a Drag Reduction System (DRS), Energy Recovery System (ERS), LED steering wheel displays and realistic engine sounds—reach nearly 50 kph, which feels a whole lot faster being so close to the ground.

These are, without a doubt, the most high-tech go karts you’ll experience.

Not a true race, where the person who crosses the finish line first wins, each racer’s best lap time is compared to the best times of the other racers. The DRS and the ERS both effectively function as “boosts,” giving your go kart a bit of extra speed. Hitting one button at a time will increase your speed a bit, both at the same time will give you a noticeable boost.

Just about everyone in our group could have raced for a half-hour or more. It was a great way to culminate the event, having learned a bit more about racing strategies and tested out the simulators.

To sum it up, we would definitely go back on our subsequent visits to Vegas. We might skip F1 X and possible F1 Hub but F1 Drive is an absolute “must.”

Accor and the World Monuments Fund (WMF), a leading independent organisation devoted to safeguarding the world’s most treasured places, have announced new projects at four heritage sites selected from the 2025 World Monuments Watch.

The Watch is WMF’s biennial program that advocates for heritage places in critical need of protection, galvanising action and support for their preservation.

The four projects spanning France (Chapel of the Sorbonne), Latin America (Qhapaq Ñan), Greece (Serifos Historic Mining Landscape), and India (Historic Water Systems of Bhuj) will receive support provided by Accor, helping to restore and enhance destinations for their long-term sustainable progress and resilience.

In September 2024, Accor and WMF formalised a pioneering three-year partnership seeking to shape and maximise the benefits of tourism to cultural heritage places. Bringing together their complementary expertise and global reach, the partnership aims to set new standards for how the tourism industry can play a part protecting cultural destinations from overuse, promoting visitation to lesser-known heritage places, and strengthening the role of heritage in local community well-being.

Accor has committed to supporting multi-faceted projects focused on preserving and enhancing diverse built heritage, offering meaningful benefits to communities, and building long-term local resilience.

The World Monuments Watch, launched in 1996, is a program dedicated to discovering, spotlighting and taking action on behalf of global heritage sites. Every two years, WMF identifies 25 sites facing significant challenges, such as climate change, tourism, and conflict, and are in need of vital support. To date, WMF has contributed over US$120 million to nearly 350 Watch sites, while the visibility of the Watch has helped inspire an additional US$310 million in public and private support.

As part of this year’s Watch, Accor will collaborate with WMF at four significant sites, located in different regions of the world.

  • Chapel of the Sorbonne, Paris, France
  • Qhapaq Ñan, Andean Road System,Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru
  • Serifos Historic Mining Landscape, Greece
  • Historic Water Systems of Bhuj, India

Together, Accor and WMF will help develop and implement innovative strategies for distributing tourism to lesser-known destinations, enriching the visitor experience, and capturing local benefit from the tourism industry.

Local communities will gain the skills and knowledge needed to protect these sites while also reaping the benefits that result from expanded sustainable tourism. Each project was also assessed based on its alignment with Accor’s goals for global development, climate change adaptation, and sustainable tourism development.

Sébastien Bazin, Chairman & CEO Accor, said: “Cultural heritage is at the center of the tourism industry and a major part of why people fall in love with travel.”

“The industry has a deep responsibility to protect, conserve and treasure important sites. Our partnership with WMF is a testament to our dedication as we continue to pioneer responsible hospitality and connect cultures with heartfelt care.”

“Across these four projects we hope to inspire a new approach to protecting cultural heritage and I look forward to witnessing their progress and success.”

Bénédicte de Montlaur, CEO of the World Monuments Fund, said: “Supporting communities in the stewardship of their cultural heritage has long been central to our work. By supporting projects that create new economic opportunities, improve site management, and elevate local storytelling, this partnership makes it possible to protect cherished places while delivering a unique visitor experience.

“Accor’s commitment to this effort demonstrates how the hospitality industry can play a meaningful role in shaping a more inclusive and responsible future for cultural heritage,” de Montlaur added.

The four Watch projects Accor has selected to collaborate with WMF on are as follows:

The Chapel of the Sorbonne

As an iconic French heritage site located in Paris, a major destination for Accor, the Chapel of the Sorbonne resonates strongly with the Group’s identity and roots in French hospitality. Located in the city’s Latin Quarter, it is a masterpiece of classical architecture and key part of Sorbonne University’s rich heritage. Currently closed to the public, the chapel suffers from severe deterioration, requiring extensive restoration work to preserve its structure and artistic heritage.

Together with the City of Paris and the Chancellery of the Sorbonne, WMF and Accor aim to reopen the chapel, transforming it into a vibrant destination for students and Parisians. The project will help foster collaboration among the city, students, and stakeholders to revitalize this historic site, enhancing its accessibility and ensuring its legacy for future generations. The focus is not only on restoring the building, but on supporting its return as a place of learning and engagement for the broader community, reinforcing the importance of heritage in shaping local identity.

Qhapaq Ñan, the Andean Road Network

Qhapaq Ñan, the Andean Road Network, is a remarkable system of trails that connects Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. It was built over centuries and consolidated as a network during the Inca period to facilitate transport, communication, and cultural exchanges across diverse Andean cultures. Today, despite its UNESCO World Heritage status, Qhapaq Ñan faces ongoing threats, including erosion, vandalism, and unregulated development. WMF and Accor aim to catalyze transnational cooperation to strengthen local and regional site management, encourage thoughtful approaches to tourism, and support the communities whose heritage and daily lives are closely ties to this historic network.

Accor’s support reflects its longstanding presence in Latin America and its commitment to responsible hospitality. The significant sustainable tourism and climate change risk mitigation angles embedded in this project align strongly with Accor’s focus and expertise. Sustainable management and preservation of the Andean Road Network promises to bring measurable economic benefits to the local communities across six Latin American countries, positioning this a strong example of how the protection and enhancement of these sites can bring diverse benefits for society.

Serifos Historic Mining Landscape

The Historic Mining Landscape of Serifos, a captivating island in the Cyclades, represents one of Greece’s most significant industrial heritage sites. From the 1870s to 1965, this unspoiled island of dramatic landscapes and beautiful beaches was a leading mining center with rich iron ore deposits. The site includes the iconic Mega Livadi loading bridge, administration buildings, mining tunnels, and other remains of the industry, now threatened by years of neglect and lack of legal recognition.

The WMF and Accor partnership will support critical technical preparation and stakeholder engagement to advance conversation planning and explore sustainable visitor experiences for this endangered industrial landscape. The project exemplifies how thoughtful heritage management can revitalize lesser-known destinations while protecting their authentic character and cultural significance.

Historic Water Systems of Bhuj

At the heart of Bhuj in western India, Lake Hamirsar symbolizes the city’s enduring relationship with water. Built in the 16th century, this artificial reservoir and its complex network of stepwells, reservoirs, and canals have sustained the growth of Bhuj despite harsh climate conditions. Today, many of these systems are underused or in disrepair, even as the region faces growing water insecurity linked to climate change and rapid urban development.

Together with the CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF), WMF and Accor will help revitalise the city’s historic hydrologic systems by integrating traditional knowledge into current water management strategies. As part of this project, Accor will lend its expertise to support sustainable development in what is a region undergoing significant growth and change. By reconnecting the city’s historic systems with its present-day needs, the project will improve local water resilience while restoring the local community’s cultural relationship with water.
