The Australia and New Zealand expansion was one of the first big international launches for the US-based group, which has since grown exponentially in the region.<\/p>\n<p>To mark the occasion, the invite-only travel organisation hosted a soiree in Sydney. Held on Friday 2 February 2024, the lunchtime event took place on board The Jackson superyacht, the same vessel recently commandeered by Veuve Clicquot for its exclusive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.signatureluxurytravel.com.au\/veuve-clicquot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">summer sailing series<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1706854521277{margin-top: 15px !important;margin-bottom: 10px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1605829610747{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element vc_custom_1605826539362 bs-vc-block\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/eepurl.com\/be7GRn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Subscribe to LATTE\u2019s free eNewsletter<\/a> to keep up to date with everything in the luxury travel industry.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1706854535146{margin-bottom: 15px !important;}&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The gathering included travel industry professionals, media, Virtuoso members and partners, and Chairman and CEO himself, Matthew Upchurch, who flew into Sydney for the event. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upchurch thanked Virtuoso members both new and old, and shared an origin story of the Australian expansion. As Upchurch tells it, the United Kingdom was the original target for the first big expansion, but a visit to Australia &#8211; and exposure to our larrikin nature &#8211; swayed the Virtuoso powers Fiona Dalton, AU\/NZ General Manager and an acknowledgement of country delivered by Phillipa Harrison, Managing Director, Tourism Australia, Virtuoso thanked its Regional Member Advisory Board for their continual hard work and support, naming each Anna McMurtrie, Karen Majsay, Melinda Gregor, Mike Dwyer, Kelly Gelfand, Anthony Goldman, Danny Engelman, Leith Sisson and Sharyn Kitchener.<\/p>\n<p>The afternoon also included a panel discussion with long-time members, Claudia Rossi Hudson, Cher Roscoe, Mike Dwyer and David Brandon, who shared highlights from their time within the network, and how it\u2019s helped their businesses.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;147187&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; Oceania Cruises, Switzerland, Tourism Western Australia, Accor, Shangri-La Group, Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, Explora Journeys, Viking, Destination Canada, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises were the
