With the launch of <em>Magellan Discoverer<\/em>, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainable Antarctic tourism and to innovation from southern Chile.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"built-for-boutique-and-sustainable-exploration\">Built for Boutique and Sustainable Exploration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Magellan Discoverer<\/em> has an advanced hybrid-electric propulsion system that merges diesel engines with lithium-ion marine batteries. This system allows Antarctica21 to reduce CO\u2082 emissions, lower underwater noise and improve energy efficiency throughout our voyages. The company has also incorporated intelligent energy management tools that recycle heat from the engines to warm onboard spaces and recover power from elevators to help recharge the battery systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/us.latteluxurynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Magellan-Discoverer-Launch-2-1132x560-1.jpg\" alt=\"Magellan Discoverer float out\" width=\"1132\" height=\"560\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>At about 310 feet long, <em>Magellan Discoverer<\/em> can accommodate 76 guests for Antarctic air-cruises (plus 67 crew members). <a href=\"https:\/\/us.latteluxurynews.com\/2025\/06\/11\/magellan-discoverer-interiors\/\">The interior design was led by Tomas Tillberg Design <\/a>and is \u201cinspired by the raw beauty of Patagonia and Antarctica\u201d &#8211; meaning travellers can expect panoramic windows, sustainable materials, and a warm, contemporary style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following its successful launch, <em>Magellan Discoverer<\/em> now enters the final phase of construction. In the coming months, work will focus on interior outfitting, integration of navigation systems, technical trials and maritime certifications. Scheduled for delivery in September 2026, <em>Magellan Discoverer<\/em> will begin sailing in November 2026.
