{"id":187117,"date":"2025-11-05T10:06:33","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T23:06:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latteluxurynews.com\/?p=187117"},"modified":"2025-11-05T17:36:24","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T06:36:24","slug":"oceania-cruises-winter-mediterranean-james-sitters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latteluxurynews.com\/2025\/11\/05\/oceania-cruises-winter-mediterranean-james-sitters\/","title":{"rendered":"Cool cruising trend sees Oceania ramp up winter Med sailings"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A growing trend toward cooler-weather cruising is behind <strong>Oceania Cruises<\/strong>&#8216; decision to launch its most extensive collection of winter Mediterranean itineraries in its history, according to D<strong>irector of Sales Australia and New Zealand James Sitters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Oceania Allura<\/em>\u00a0will sail the cruise line\u2019s first-ever winter season in the Mediterranean and Canary Islands in 2027\/28, to take place during the less-travelled months of November through March.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to <strong><em>LATTE<\/em><\/strong>, Sitters confirmed that the &#8220;Quiet Mediterranean&#8221; focus comes as the cruise line sees rising interest in year-round cruising options from travellers keen to avoid peak-season crowds and temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/latteluxurynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Oceania_Cruises_Allura_Ship1132x560.jpg\" alt=\"Oceania Cruises entertainment\" width=\"1132\" height=\"560\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to shine a light on the Mediterranean winter as it offers a completely different and authentic experience,\u201d he explained. \u201cWith fewer tourists and the added charm of holiday festivities, guests can experience these iconic cities in a different light, enjoying unique experiences that invite travellers to linger for longer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to these itineraries, Sitters expects the 2027\/28 program\u2019s Grand Voyages, particularly those beginning or ending in Australia or New Zealand, to prove popular with those seeking deeper exploration and greater value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese itineraries allow guests to explore multiple continents in one seamless journey &#8211; something that deeply appeals to our long-haul travellers,\u201d he said. \u201cThe 59-day South Pacific voyage from Miami to Sydney, for example, is generating strong buzz thanks to its blend of tropical escapes and cultural hotspots.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among these longer itineraries is an epic 96-day Rome to Auckland voyage, with the desire for deeper immersion prompting the cruise line to also add more overnight stays in \u201ciconic cities\u201d reflecting a broader shift towards \u201cslower travel\u201d. These include Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/latteluxurynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Oceania-Allura-1132-x-560.png\" alt=\"Oceania Allura Best New Chefs\" width=\"1132\" height=\"560\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Ensuring the right guests are matched with the right itineraries is key, with Oceania working closely with the trade to do precisely that. \u201cMany of our guests in this region are long-haul travellers who plan well in advance, so working closely with advisors to tap into that mindset is a key part of our strategy,\u201d Sitters said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith bookings now open through 2028, our focus is firmly on continuing to strengthen partnerships with travel advisors. They are absolutely essential in driving early demand and building long-term brand loyalty, especially in the Australian and New Zealand markets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of its trade outreach approach, the cruise lune has introduced more structured marketing opportunities and booking incentives. It also recently released a webinar to tie-in with the double season launch and is working closely with CLIA on initiatives such as Cruise Month to educate travel advisor partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Oceania remains committed to redefining luxury as a \u201cdeeply personal experience\u201d, said Sitters.
