{"id":187269,"date":"2025-11-07T15:27:59","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T04:27:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latteluxurynews.com\/?p=187269"},"modified":"2025-11-07T15:28:03","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T04:28:03","slug":"serge-dive-luxury-trends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latteluxurynews.com\/2025\/11\/07\/serge-dive-luxury-trends\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Presence is the new luxury&#8221;: Dive on travel&#8217;s recalibration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The travel industry must shift its focus from logistics to emotions as the definition of luxury, once synonymous with excess, is rewritten, according to <strong>This is Beyond Founder and CEO Serge Dive<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to <strong><em>LATTE<\/em><\/strong> during <strong>Further East<\/strong> in Bali, Dive explained that the key trend he is seeing is a pivot from the superficial to the profound. \u201cWe can no longer live in a world of excess,\u201d he said. \u201cPresence is the luxury now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new definition of indulgence isn\u2019t about caviar and champagne, it\u2019s silence, stillness and the feeling of being completely in the moment &#8211; ever more elusive in this digital age. \u201cThe idea of coming back to our animal self should be the goal of every travel provider &#8211; because this is where we are happy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For travel operators, that means changing the way they approach business. \u201cHotels can be the mixologists of emotion &#8211; mixologists of destiny,\u201d Dive explained. In his view, the most forward-thinking brands are now designing experiences that evoke emotional chemistry through the release of dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of selling itineraries, they are curating<em> <\/em>feelings. \u201cWe live in a surprise economy,\u201d he says. \u201cAdventure means what must happen without purpose.\u201d Over-planning simply kills the magic so he advised operators to leave room for surprise. &#8220;Craft storylines, not schedules,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/latteluxurynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Further-East-1132-x-560.png\" alt=\"Dive luxury\" width=\"1132\" height=\"560\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>This also means letting go of perfection &#8211; increasingly prevalent given the rise of AI and automation. \u201cSo people will start to re-embrace the humanity behind the product and its imperfections,\u201d he predicted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He pointed to the popularity of hand-crafted watches that may be sometimes inaccurate, and the return to vinyl records with their scratches as signs that consumers are rediscovering beauty in imperfection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this new landscape, sustainability isn\u2019t a marketing trend but a change of mindset, according to Dive<em>.<\/em> \u201cEverybody talks about sustainability,\u201d he said, \u201cbut it\u2019s more about longevity &#8211; designing something that lasts.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He believes that longevity applies not only to the environment but to the traveller\u2019s own sense of wellbeing.
