{"id":187403,"date":"2025-11-10T17:11:34","date_gmt":"2025-11-10T06:11:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latteluxurynews.com\/?p=187403"},"modified":"2025-11-11T23:19:59","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T12:19:59","slug":"capella-plots-pioneering-path-for-patina-offshoot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latteluxurynews.com\/2025\/11\/10\/capella-plots-pioneering-path-for-patina-offshoot\/","title":{"rendered":"Jacobs, Rodriguez plot pioneering path for Capella&#8217;s Patina brand"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The fledgling <strong>Patina<\/strong> offshoot of <strong>Capella Hotels and Resorts<\/strong> will be the first hotel brand to successfully bridge the worlds of luxury and lifestyle, according to hospitality leader <strong>Neil Jacobs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Wild Origins<\/strong> Founder and former boss of <strong>Six Senses<\/strong> took an <a href=\"http:\/\/Wild Origins Founder and former boss of Six Senses\">advisory role with Capella <\/a>in July this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at <strong>Further East <\/strong>in Bali last week, Jacobs described Patina as a \u201cbrand with legs\u201d, that captures the sophistication of high-end hospitality while embracing the energy of modern lifestyle brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think the gap that Patina is going to fill is, everyone talks about lifestyle, and you have a perception of what a lifestyle hotel is which generally is not super high end, and then you have a luxury hotel, which is a luxury hotel,\u201d Jacobs said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe believe that the space for Patina is that intersection between the two and that you can have a luxury lifestyle hotel, just that nobody really has done that yet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/latteluxurynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Six-Senses-CEO-Neil-Jacobs-1132-x-560.png\" alt=\"Jacobs Patina\" width=\"1132\" height=\"560\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, Patina operates in two locations &#8211; the flagship <strong>Patina Maldives, Fari Islands<\/strong> and <strong>Patina Osaka<\/strong> which <a href=\"https:\/\/latteluxurynews.com\/2025\/05\/05\/patina-osaka-opens\/\">opened in May this year<\/a>. But the momentum is growing: Jacobs confirmed that four to five more Patina projects are now under development across Asia and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In conversation with Jacobs, <strong>Capella Vice President Lifestyle Lexie Rodriguez <\/strong>highlighted brand clarity as the cornerstone of Patina\u2019s strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe clearly have different points of view for both Capella and Patina,&#8221; she stressed, specifying that the &#8220;more progressive&#8221; Patina brand invites guests to &#8220;participate in the now&#8221;. \u201cIt allows the brands to complement each other in a group rather than compete.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/latteluxurynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Patina-Osaka-1-1132-x-560.png\" alt=\"Jacobs Patina\" width=\"1132\" height=\"560\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Both speakers underscored that Patina\u2019s success will depend on maintaining <strong>a<\/strong> disciplined sense of purpose while adapting locally to each destination. \u201cWhat a Patina is going to look like in Osaka is going to be very different than what another Patina will look like in a city in Europe,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ensuring the market is aware of these differences within each brand portfolio is crucial, but so too is getting across the differentiation between Capella and Patina, according to Jacobs. &#8220;We are trying to do a better job at is to absolutely communicate the differentiation between Capella and Patina,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They stand on their own.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The fledgling Patina offshoot of Capella Hotels and Resorts will be the first hotel brand to successfully bridge the worlds of luxury and lifestyle, according to hospitality leader Neil Jacobs.
